Privacy & Data Protection Policy

Nunavut Moving & Services is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with Canadian privacy law.

1Purpose

This Privacy & Data Protection Policy ensures that Nunavut Moving & Services protects the personal information of its clients, employees, contractors, and business partners in accordance with the Privacy Act and Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

2Scope

This policy applies to all employees, management, and contractors of Nunavut Moving & Services, and covers the collection, use, storage, disclosure, and disposal of all personal information — whether oral, electronic, or written — gathered in the course of providing moving, packing, commercial relocation, furniture assembly, and carpentry services across Nunavut.

3Definitions

Personal Information
Any information about an identifiable individual, including names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, financial information, and any other data that can identify an individual.
Commercial Activity
Any particular transaction, act, or conduct of a commercial character, including the provision of moving and related services, invoicing, and client communications.

In accordance with the 10 principles of PIPEDA, Nunavut Moving & Services commits to:

A designated Privacy Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with this policy and applicable legislation.

Individuals may direct any complaints or inquiries about our compliance to the designated Privacy Officer.

5Personal Information Collected

In the course of providing moving and related services, we may collect:

  • Full name, address, phone number, and email address
  • Origin and destination addresses for moves
  • Inventory details and special-handling instructions
  • Payment and invoicing information
  • Employment and contractor applications
  • Emergency contact information
  • Survey responses or testimonials

We collect information through our website contact form, email, phone, and in-person interactions.

6Retention and Disposal

Personal information will be retained only as long as necessary for its intended use or as required by law. Secure disposal methods — including shredding of physical documents and permanent deletion of digital records — will be used to protect privacy upon disposal.

7Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach involving a real risk of significant harm, Nunavut Moving & Services will:

  • Notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada
  • Inform affected individuals as soon as feasible
  • Document the breach and our response in accordance with PIPEDA requirements
